Someone said that a good company was hiring, so I went over. A 3x3-foot sign was taped to the front window, “WE ARE NOT HIRING.” I needed a job, so I pried the sign from the window
and carried it to the reception area, where I was greeted with a frosty, “yes?” “I’d like a job application, please.” A glacial stare. “We are not hiring,” she said, “didn’t you see the sign?” I held up the sign. “You mean this? I thought it was just for people who didn’t really want jobs.”
The woman looked at me in silence for a long time. She stood. “Just a minute,” she said, and left. Another woman came and introduced herself and invited me to a room. After 10 minutes, she took me to meet her boss, who after 10 minutes offered me a good-paying, interesting job, which I turned down.
You should have seen the look on her face. The job was on weekends, and I don’t work Sundays. Be bold, baby.

why would you take a a NOT HIRING sign into a building, and then turn down the good job that they offered you?
just a thought.
