I just received an e-mail from a good friend who used to be my boss, the best boss I ever had, in fact. I’m not sucking up, she already knows it is true, and she knows I could not adore and appreciate her more. She is talented in many ways.
She didn’t write to, oh, I don’t know, congratulate me, say she saw my blog and wow, it sure is terrific. No. She wrote to inform me that I had used poor grammar in a recent post (the – ahem – first one out of 160, I dare say) and told me exactly where I went wrong. She finished with, “have you forgotten everything I taught you?” Ouch.
No, I haven’t forgotten, Julie. And thanks.
But isn’t it nice to have someone looking over your shoulder sometimes, telling you when you’re off track? Because you don’t have to be very far off track to be off track. I’ll bet the boys at Enron wish they had someone like Julie.
