Except for fast typing skills, Napoleon Dynamite seems to have gotten it right about the skills girls seek in boys. Are you developing the skills you need to increase your value in the marketplace? Never forget that you are paid for the value of your skills, not, I repeat not, for the time you put in.
We all need to learn and develop our skills, to increase our competency in many things. I am learning to play bass guitar, but I don’t spend nearly as much time on that as I do on my work skills. As we increase our unique and special talents, we will be better off, as employers and as employees. We become better people, better parents, better spouses, better softball players or tennis players or better underwater basket weavers. If we concentrate our energies on our gifts, on the things at which we truly excel, we will truly succeed.
