“Ninety-five percent of your emotions,” says Brian Tracy, “positive or negative, are determined by how you talk to yourself on a minute-to-minute basis. It is not what happens to you but the way that you interpret the things that are happening to you that determines how you feel. It is your version of events that largely determines whether they motivate or demotivate you, whether they energize or de-energize you.”
Yesterday, backing out of my driveway onto the street, something went snap and suddenly the car would not shift gears. I was stranded crossways in the street, blocking both sides, unable to drive or push the vehicle.
Hey, that’s not so bad. I went months without a car not long ago, just walking or on my bike. So one stalled car is still way better. It took about 30 minutes for a temporary fix (having a mechanic son-in-law is great) and I drove out to my daughter’s house after work and played with her kids while he made the fix in his driveway.
The repair cost $130 that I can’t easily spare.
Hey, that’s not so bad. At least I had the cash, easy to spare or not, and now I have a car to drive to work this morning when it is 30 degrees, rather than my bike.

It would have cost you 210 if you would have had to take it somewhere plus you got Dinner out of it too.
