The monotony of a long layover at some airport in the
was a stack of plastic Coke bottles about as tall as he was, and he was systematically opening then resealing the bottles. He was checking inside the bottle caps to see if that bottle was a winning entry in whatever contest Coke was running at the time.
I assumed that he would stop after checking the top row, but he did not. He lifted the case and set it on the floor, then proceeded to open each bottle on that row, and then the next. My flight was called about the time he got to the fourth level, but I assume the guy finished the stack, and – unless he won some major prize - is still there checking for his lucky break and selling flat soda pop.
I wondered how he justified his actions. It was stealing. It was wasting time for which he was paid. And, it was pretty bad customer service. Is there any other way to see it?
