Thoughts Set The Course For Our Lives

The first step to changing your life is to change your mind. Every aspect of day-to-day living is based on your mind, on what you think. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” is what the scriptures say (Proverbs 23:7).

“A man becomes what he thinks about all day long” is Great geniuses have the shortest biographiesa more modern application, by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Our thoughts set the course for our lives. Every action and reaction is determined by our attitude, by our perspective, by our experience, by our decision-making process. By our minds.

One thing that helps what you think about is to make your car a “university on wheels.” Most Americans spend enough hours in their car every year to equal a university course. So turn off that oldies station sometimes and listen to talk recordings. Instructional, motivational, educational, inspirational: everything is available, and everything is valuable.

Capture good ideas. Write them down. Memorize them. Hang them on your wall or your bathroom mirror. Here is one I like:

Reading within your profession for 30 minutes a day will double your income within six months.” Brian Tracy

There are countless others. You’ll find them in conversation, in books, in movies. Write them down. Put them where you can see them. Keep them in mind.

John, great motivation. Thanks for your thoughts...I'm going to link it back to landingthedeal.com...all sales professionals need motivation, and your point about becoming what you think about is right on target. Well done.

I know that this is true. I have been biteing my nails ever since I can remember. I hated doing it. First of all it is a sick habit, second, it really hurts. One day I just made up my mind that I was not going to do it anymore. I had said that to myself many times but this time was different. I really "made up my MIND". I haven't done it in four years. I know this seems like a simple thing to some people, but for me it was life changing.

Right on, John. Thoughts --> Actions --> Habits --> Attributes --> Character.
