Not to confuse money with happiness, but sometimes it seems we all ought to have a lot more to show for all the years of hard work we’ve put in. The way I read the news, most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and are too much in debt. We make money but never seem to have any.![]()
Maybe it’s time to dust off our copies of The Millionaire Next Door and reread the part about “simple lifestyles, not the big paychecks” that lead to lasting wealth.
In her review of the book, Janet Luhrs said that, “their wealth is the result of hard work, perseverance, planning and most of all, self-discipline. We regularly and continually give our money away to other people so they can become wealthy, while we live paycheck to paycheck. We buy the latest cars, biggest houses, full wardrobes, daily espressos, high-tech gizmos and gadgets of all kinds. As a result, we’re on treadmills, never allowing ourselves the time to create the kind of lifestyle we want.”

Well, I guess we can't all be reach, we need the poor to be poor so someone will work hard keeping some of us, the lucky ones, rich. Just like that
