So far I’ve tried not to use a quotation more than once, but a thought by Jenkins Lloyd Jones keeps coming back:
The vision of things to be done may come a long time before the way of doing them appears clear, but woe to him who distrusts the vision.
I came across this years ago, working at a
start-up company that was really struggling to make it. The business had talented people, excellent products, a huge market, and tons of ambition, but frustration was everywhere. Now the company is prospering, their vision is paying off.
I mention this quotation again because it has become personal. I have a terrific opportunity with a new partner, ripe with potential and heavy with the promise of long-term success, but the next steps are steep and long and seemingly impossible with obstacles. The vision is there, but we are not yet convinced we can trust it. I hope that in time the trust will come, and we will have the courage and commitment to turn the next page.
