As I write, my daughter is watching a movie called Six-String Samurai, which may or may not be one of the strangest
movies ever made, “just your average, run-of-the-mill post-apocalyptic kung-fu-rock-n-roll road movie.” I think it is terrific, but whatever its merits, the movie has an excellent soundtrack by a band called The Red Elvises, noted for their “Siberian surf rock.” One of the most memorable tracks is My Darling Lorraine, part of which goes, “My darling,
Happiness is what we all seem to want, but it too often seems we don’t go about it the best ways. Happiness is something like a vitreous floater. It’s there, you see enough to sense its presence, but if you look straight at it, it floats away.
As you seek your happiness, keep in mind two things: “My Darling Lorraine” by the Red Elvises, and this from Dale Carnegie, who said, “it isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”
I had assumed I was one of about seven people who have seen this movie, but there are at least 1,500 or so. If you're interested, take a look at it, and let me know what you think, unless of course you don't like it. There is even a page of quotes from the movie. Go figure.
