Congratulations to Rick Pitino and his Louisville Cardinals on another hard-won victory last night over Missouri State University. They say that “defense wins championships” and they played good defense. You don’t win 19 home games in a season without good defense. I think most kids come to college basketball knowing how to shoot, but the great coaches teach great defense, and Rick Pitino has proven he is a great coach.

“You must earn and deserve your self-esteem,” Pitino says, and the Louisville team earned its self-esteem again last night. “We all work hard. To be most effective, we must learn to feel extraordinary about our opportunities to help people while we work. Your work should make other people better.”

And last night, as often is the case, Louisville was better.
