I saw only a couple of you there, but the crowd was large and I might easily have missed you. The Big Smith benefit concert
earlier this month was terrific. The music was great, as always, but the good news is that the fundraiser – the show and the silent auction – raised $50,000, which was generously matched by Springfield Trust Company. A grand total of $100,000 was sent to six Rainbow Network feeding centers in rural , where, apparently, one dollar will feed a lot of people.
The other good news is that my daughter, the one who knows and loves all the popular songs on the radio, came with me and really enjoyed the show. It’s always a good thing when children are converted to the difference between good music and popular music. She even got a new favorite t-shirt.
