According to Jim Rohn, in The Art Of Exceptional Living, there are five key abilities we can develop to foster a more successful lifestyle. What follows is a paraphrase of Rohn’s ideas.
Develop The Ability To Respond
Develop The Ability To Reflect
Develop The Ability To Act![]()
Take action, not in haste, but when the idea is hot and the emotion is strong. Do it before the impulse passes. There is a law of diminishing intent. This happens at church, at work, at home. If not translated into action, the impulse fades quickly. Do it now, start today. Take action or the idea is wasted. Every action – good and bad – accumulates and affects the rest, and self-worth and self-esteem increase or decrease proportionately. I should, I could, I do. Make that your motto. Throw away the blame, the excuses, the missed opportunities, the procrastination. Start today. Do the best you can. Do all you can. Do five push ups until you can do ten. Rest little and not too long, or the weeds will take your garden. Make rest a necessity, not an objective.
