
I took some young children to a matinee to
see a children’s movie. I love being in the theater with a couple of hundred delighted school kids. They are so enthusiastic and genuine. They laugh unabashedly and often, they cheer at all the right times, and they clap when the movie’s over. Even dumb movies are made more tolerable with the live laugh track that only large groups of children can provide. It’s good for the soul.
Years ago, I went with a buddy to see one of the Rocky movies, where he fought the Russian. We were the last two people seated, back row, middle. The movie progressed like all the other Rocky movies, and everyone was caught up in the excitement when Rocky began his inevitable comeback. But no one more so than my friend, who, when Rocky finally delivered the telling blow, leaped to his feet, shook his fist at the screen and screamed, “Take that, you Commie fag.”
You gotta love a good movie.
