A discussion about business ethics, character traits, integrity, and values

I guess I’m still ticked, because thinking about the Everly Brothers in concert reminded me of this. I bought front-row seats, one 10 seats left of center for the afternoon show, one 10 seats right of center for the evening show, so I could take pictures from two angles. I took 72 shots at each show, and took them to be developed the next morning. This was 10 years ago, when film processing took days.

At last the prints arrived. Instead of four rolls, there were three, and one was of high school students in Minnesota . Another was my photos, but the film had been improperly loaded and each negative had been cut down the middle. The other roll was beautiful.

I politely asked the clerk, then the clerk’s supervisor, then the store manager, then some hack in the corporate office, what had happened to my precious film and what my options were. It took a week, but they finally determined that I could stick my head where the sun doesn’t shine, and here’s a roll of outdated film. Meanwhile, some schmoe in Minnesota is looking at my Everly Brothers pictures right now.
