I’ve posted a couple of “desktop diversions” – monk-e-mail and movie clips, because all work and no play makes somebody something, I don’t remember but it’s bad. Here’s one that you can do for fun, but you also may find some serious value in what you learn.
The site is Zillow.com – Your Edge In Real Estate. Type in an address, city and ZIP Code, your house or any house, and you’ll see an approximate “market assessed value” for the property.
What makes it fascinating, however, is that every house on the block, both sides of the street, also is marked and given an assessed value. I can see what my house is worth, and all my neighbors, plus number of bedrooms, baths and square feet. Cool. Nosey, but cool. I’ll let you decide on the ethics of it.
