
Have you seen that bumper sticker? Haven’t we all been there? And isn’t it great that we don’t have to stay there?![]()
First thing, get out of the handbasket. You don’t have to figure out why you are in it before you get out of it, just get out of it. Stand as far to the side of the road as possible, because this particular thoroughfare is well traveled and few travelers obey speed limits.
Next, turn around and start walking. You will have to walk uphill, and the slope may be slippery, but keep walking. Decide where you want to go and walk that way. The movement, the activity, is what rescues you.
There are no permanent rest stops on the way back up, so pace yourself. Rest if you must, catch your breath, but don’t quit.
