I’m watching The Family Man, a scene just after when Kate says to Jack that she will take the kids from schools they
love and move from the only home they’ve known together just to be with him, because she loves him and that’s "more important than our address." Wow!
Jack is at a convenience store. As he approaches check out, the clerk tells a young woman that her pop is ninety-nine cents, and she hands him a dollar. The clerk picks up the dollar and says, "Out of ten," and – as the girl watches with disbelief – he counts out nine dollars and a penny for her change. The girl hesitates, then grabs the money and runs. "You see that?" the clerk says to Jack, "Character. And for nine bucks. That’s just so disappointing."
I know what most of us do if we receive too little change. What do we do if we are given too much, or we get money that isn’t ours some other way? I know it’s happened to you. Send me an e-mail, tell me about it. After all, I did tell you about the time I sold out for three bucks, didn’t I?

Actually, I say, "miss, you gave me too much change" (or sir) and I get some real nice big thank you's for my honesty, "most people won't" is always the reply. I believe in the golden rule, and I used to be a store clerk, you see.
