
I don’t know about yours, but my mailman came by the house to collect food on Saturday. The National Association of Letter Carriers collected nonperishable foods to help needy families in our area. Which is a great idea and I’m sure a lot of work for our mail carriers.
They aren’t dummies over at the post office, so they sent me a postcard reminder to set out food. At the bottom is a reminder not to include food in glass bottles – excellent and obvious advice – and a request not to include food that has expired. Are you kidding? How could it be that "donating" expired food is such a problem that the PO has to specifically ask that we not do that? I rarely let food go past its prime, but when it happens, I toss it. Giving it to a charity would never cross my mind.
This is inconceivable to me. Can anyone explain why this happens?
