Last night, I saw Always... Patsy Cline at our local theater, a delightful two-woman production that highlighted the talent, passion and too short life of Patsy Cline. It was extremely well done, and reminded all of us what a remarkable singer and fascinating personality she was.
A few thoughts came to mind as I watched. One, follow your talent. Do that at which you excel and do not settle for anything else. Two, take control of your own career and do what seems right to you. As Jack Welch says, "control your own destiny or someone else will." Three, be nice to people along the way. You’ll all feel better. (The show is based on an unlikely friendship formed between Cline and Louise Segar, a fan from Houston.) Four, count your blessings. And finally, don’t take too long doing it. You never know how short or long your time will be.
* The title comes from Walking After Midnight by Donn Hecht and Alan Block.
