Like many of you, I wonder how people who seem to have so much to lose can risk everything by being dishonest. The most recent example is Chung Mong Koo, chairman of Hyundai Motor Co., who was recently arrested and charged with "embezzlement and breach of trust."
The information comes from a BusinessWeek article, at the end of which is a section for reader comments. Perhaps one of them provides a clue.
Someone who calls himself Borg writes: "No matter how bad this person might be, I must salute his management style. Look at where he lead Hyundai, from nowhere to No. 7 in the world. I wish GM and Ford had someone like him."
I hadn't realized that corruption is an acceptable management style. So long as it’s profitable, I guess....
