From Kiplinger’s Retirement Report, May 2006:
Watch Out For Credit Card Cons
The Institute of Consumer Financial Education warns of a new credit card scam. A caller who has your card number will inform you that you are due a credit, or that there is unusual activity on the card. If you receive such a call, close the account. And never give out your PIN to an unsolicited caller.
Track Down Your Refund
Wondering what’s happened to your federal tax return? Visit IRS.gov and go to Where’s My Refund to check on the status of your refund. E-filer can check the web site seven days after transmitting their tax returns. Those who mailed paper returns must wait four to six weeks. If you haven’t received your refund 28 days after the IRS says it mailed your check, the site enables you to initiate a trace.
