Cell phones have given freedom to young adults that their parents never imagined. Unsupervised calling, complete privacy, text
messaging, individual voicemail, all have enabled kids to pretty much do as they please, avoiding parents, cheating in school. Until now.
Some cellular phones now come with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology that allows parents to monitor where the phone is, and, where the phone is, as a rule the child is not far behind.
Most kids – and some parents – consider it an invasion of privacy and a sure sign of lack of trust. Some parents consider it an effective deterrent to prevent their kids doing things that would only get them into trouble.
Of course, there are ways to defeat the device, like take out the batteries. But the greater question is, what do you think? Is it good parenting to use satellite technology to track kids, or is it mistrust and a misuse of technology?

Re your article of June 21,Anti-Freedom Device Enables Parents To Spy On Offspring...
No matter what advances are made in technology, kids still need parental supervision. They find new ways to "get by with something" and parents must find new ways to supervise.
Were parents in 1950 aware of the problems from watching too much TV? Nope. They had to see the problem develop before they knew enough to intervene.
Today's parents need to be even more vigilant in parenting their young, as the young are given even more ways to "get away with something." This is a true thing.
