From Randy Pennington and Marc Bockman, On My Honor, I Will:
If we are to be people of honor, we must begin by being honest about our intents and motives. If we want to become a person of honor, we must begin by being honest about our motivation. Once we accept personal responsibility for our behavior and start being totally honest with ourselves, we'll find we "cannot be false to any man."
Honor is learned behavior. Our children, our coworkers, our employees, learn honor from us. They learn more by observation than they do by conversation. Little people steal little things because they see big people steal big thing with impunity. Little people tell little lies because they hear big shots tell big ones. Why shouldn't an employee falsify a test report on a single component when he sees his supervisor sign off on a big one that's defective? Why shouldn't a secretary take office supplies home when she sees her employer over-charge a customer?
