Beth Sawi's book, Coming Up For Air: How To Build A Balanced Life In A Workaholic World, can help us make more happiness. Writes Sawi:![]()
Having balance between our work life and our home life is so desirable and reasonable, we can't accept the notion that it is unobtainable. By building balance, you grant yourself the freedom to express yourself as a whole person, through your job, in relationships, in your hobbies and passions.
The formula for having a balanced life appears simple: work less and send more time doing what you enjoy. Intellectually, we know we have to cut down on the time we spend at work to become who we want to be, but we don’t know how to make it happen. To confess to your boss that you want to work fewer hours certainly sounds like the end of a previously promising career.
I watch people who manage to keep aloft the various spinning plates of their home and works lives. They are clear in what they value and it isn't restricted to work. They know how to set limits. And they spend what time they have very wisely.
