Does this bother you? The caption reads, "Henderson, the firm can’t afford to keep you and it can’t afford to let you go. We’re hoping you’ll do the honorable thing."
The cartoon appears in Accounting Today, of all things, June 5-18, 2006, and apparently was drawn by someone named Hardin.
It disturbs me, and I can’t figure out why. In this anti-handgun age, I was surprised to see this. Such a tactless endorsement of suicide as a business solution seems at the least politically incorrect, if not cruel and heartless.
Perhaps, the "honorable thing" for Henderson to do, if he is interested in saving the company some money, would be to shoot all the embezzling, cheating, lying officers and board members who perform, promote or tolerate "improper accounting." I can think of a few such companies that would have benefited financially from such an action.
See? That's not funny, either.

Thanks for asking and yes... This cartoon bothers me enough to write another post ... thanks for this thoughtful take on a critical subject. John!
