Every Wednesday, I get an e-mail from careerbuilder.com with a list of job openings for which I am – according to keywords in my resumé and work history – uniquely qualified. Apart from five years as a laborer in a rock quarry, most of my career has been writing or selling.
Sometimes they are pretty close with the jobs listed, but sometimes I can’t imagine where the suggested matches come from.
For example, last week I was offered a job selling for my cell phone service provider. No thanks, but at least it makes sense. Unlike the job of project manager with a construction company. You wouldn't want to live in anything I had to do with building. Then there's the master auto mechanic position. I know when my steering wheel falls off, that's bad, but that is the limit of my automobile mechanic aptitude. I may apply for the job of nurse. I have no medical education nor training, but the position is with the US Air Force, and that might get me out of the office for a while.
