There is so much bad in the best of us and so much good in the worst of us, that it ill behooves any of us to find fault with the rest of us. Cree-L Kofford
I learned this lesson from a girl named Kay, in 1975. Our gang of kids was hanging out and I said something rude about one of the guys to Kay. She thought for a minute. "You know, John," she said, "you may be right about that, but as far as I can tell, that's his only fault." And she was just about right.
That was a big changing point for me. I was born rude and sarcastic. Mean and insulting comments came unbidden to my mind. I'd been beaten up many times because I would say them out loud. You couldn't beat the meanness out of me, but Kay plucked it from me with one brief, carefully worded and gentle rebuke. Thanks, Kay.
