Dave Golokhov has an article at FOX Sports about sports scandals, from NBA to NHL to Boston Marathon to figure skating. I like them because the perpetrators get in trouble every time. Here’s one about horse racing:
Flockton Grey, a British racehorse, won a 1982 race by 20 lengths, which provoked suspicion of fraud and an investigation. The horse's owner, Ken Richardson, had switched two-year-old Flockton Grey for a seasoned three-year-old ringer and bet 20,000 pounds. He was convicted of conspiracy to defraud, fined 20,000 pounds and banned from racing. Richardson became chairman of a football club and conspired to burn down the club's home stadium to collect insurance money. He was convicted of attempted arson and spent four years in jail.
