"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every
experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... The danger lies in refusing to face the fear, in not daring to come to grips with it... You must make yourself succeed every time. You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt
They say public speaking is our greatest fear, but not me. What scares me is one-on-one conversation, being face-to-face with check out girls at the grocery store, that kind of stuff. I never raised my hand in high school, not once, not to answer a question, not to ask a question. In college, I finally realized that I could learn more if I participated, and it became fun.
Not daring to come to grips with fear leaves too much undone. It leaves too much unknown about yourself. It leaves too many talents undiscovered, untapped. It leaves you empty, because fear has no substance of its own.
