I reestablished contact with other old and dear friends over the weekend, a couple who were instrumental in supporting and guiding me when I was in my early 20s. They have been a comfort and strength for a long, long time, but with all my personal changes and the challenges of day-to-day living, we lost touch. Thank goodness for Skype is all I can say.
As we were talking about life and those very same challenges, Sandra shared her personal philosophy for dealing with tribulations. She said that if we have a problem, one of two things happens. Either we can do something about it or we can’t do something about it. Either way, she said, we should be happy, decide to be happy, then get on with it.
That seems like a pretty good philosophy to me. And, I’ve never known Sandra to have an unhappy day, despite many challenges, so it must work for the rest of us, too.
