
It's an old joke. But there are a lot of rich families in America, a lot of millionaires, with more on the way.![]()
According to the Wall Street Journal, "the House voted 269-156 to exempt the first $5 million of any estate from tax; $5 - $25 million taxed at 15%; $25 million plus at 30%. If the bill is passed by the Senate, and becomes law, it would take effect in 2010 resulting in roughly 1 in 640 deaths taxed."
Am I reading that right? In 2010, one in every 640 American households will have more than $5 million. And why not? It is proof that what Jim Rohn said is true: "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Work on your job, you’ll make a living; work on yourself, you’ll make a fortune."
Of course, it should go without saying that you don't have to steal the money, or use creative accounting to accumulate it. Okay?
