In what seems like another lifetime, I spent several months on foot or on a bike. Everything where I live is uphill from me,
and I often thought that when I got a car again, I would never take for granted that you can drive a mile in a minute and that if it is raining you don’t have to get wet.
Of course, I got a car, and for a long time didn’t take it for granted. But time passes, you hop in and out all day, you zip around in comfort, and next thing you know, whizzing up those hills is nothing special.
I look at other things – my children, my health, my friends, my marketable skills, my indoor plumbing, my stuff – and I wonder how much of it I take for granted. I try not to, but it is so easy to do.
What do you do to keep the treasures in your life fresh and vital in your mind? How do you keep from taking the best things in life for granted? I would really like some help with this.
