I just had a birthday, and it just happened to be the one after 49, which I hadn’t thought would be a big deal, but it is a big deal because it begins the countdown of what is going to be the best 10 years of my life. I am excited about the prospects ahead of me, and feel stronger, more emotionally fit and more hopeful than I have in many years.
I say this despite an occurrence over the weekend. I had four teenaged boys at my house for a few days while they attended a church activity. I also have a beautiful teenaged daughter who had their attention. Apparently at some point three of the young men approached my daughter and said, “Hey, I’m staying at your grandfather’s house.”
“Life is a wonderful gift of continual renewal,” and I have decided – against odds, perhaps – that I am ready to begin again.
