Is anything more powerful than well-chosen words? Sometimes even familiar words just grab you. They hold on to your heart
and your mind and they change the way you feel and the way you think. I was moved unexpectedly yesterday, singing The Battle Hymn Of The Republic. The phrase "Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!" just jumped off the page and filled me with emotion.
It doesn’t matter what your religious affiliations may be, nor what country you call home. The idea of being swift to do what is right, to hurry up and do what you said you would do, is thrilling and good and true. Then – hallelujah! – to be happy to do it. I love the idea, the image, of jubilant feet, of taking physical pleasure in doing good and joy in living with honor, of being eager to perform even unpleasant tasks just because it is the right thing to do.
