From Blair Singer, SalesDogs:
Successful people and groups have a very clear Code of Honor.
The purpose of the Code of Honor is to create accountability and a feeling of support. It is a set of rules and guidelines that outline your values and your standards and that protect members of the team from being unsupported. It becomes a powerful statement of who you are and what your team stands for.
By engaging your customers into a community, you are asking customers to join you on your business team. You want to serve your customers and also have your customers serve each other and, hence, serve the brand.
[A]sk the question, "What are the values and characteristics of the brand and the community that should be upheld and honored at all times?" The answers to this question will provide the Code of Honor – an agreement that all members of the community – beginning inside the company – support and respect. This "code" should be communicated to your community – beginning with the internal community – and reviewed and agreed upon by all members.
