I read somewhere that "personal progress is the real victory," but our First Annual Poor Thoughts Will Not Produce Prosperity Contest has an actual, definite, real-live winner.
The challenge was to complete this sentence:
Poor thoughts will not produce prosperity
any more than ___ will ___.
There were several good entries, such as:
… any more than despair will create hope.
… any more than thinking "I hate diets!" will result in weight loss.
... any more than fear will produce faith.
And one that, well, just didn't provide much new information:
… any more than thinking will make riches.
But the winning entry, based - as advertised - soley on my judgment, my opinion, my whim, even, is one that is truly mysterious and superbly poetic:
Poor thoughts will not produce prosperity any more than crushing fluid silence will fracture any delusive illusions I envision of myself.
I'm not saying I know what it means, but I admire courage when I see it. The winning entry was by D2, no stranger to this site. So D2, write to my personal e-mail to make arrangements for me to read to you one chapter from The One-Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.
