The Springfield and Columbia dealerships for ProCycle have been fined almost $200,000 by Jay Nixon, the Missouri Attorney General. Nixon sued the dealership owners, "alleging that they misled customers by failing to disclose certain fees and charging three percent for the use of a credit card," according to the AG’s news release. In some cases, "the dealerships promised one price for merchandise while charging another."
In the settlement, $114,000 will be returned to consumers and another $84,000 will go to local governments and the state.
The press release says that "consumers who are entitled to settlement payments will be contacted by Nixon’s office in the next few months." That’s good, as the average pay back is some $315. What I wonder is, what will be done with the money during the next few months?
