I'm reading Doing What's Right by Tavis Smiley. It is a difficult read for me because I disagree – often fervently – with what a lot of what I've read. The inside cover says that Smiley is a talk show host, and so far that's about the only thing I've believed.
Except for one thing. Smiley praises reading as a way "to learn as much as possible about your competition." As he says, "you need to know what the other side is thinking. I don't subscribe to the beliefs I'm reading. But I absorb them, making me better prepared…."
Now I agree with that. So, I'll keep on reading Tavis Smiley. If you read or listen to him, let me know what you think.
