"It is so easy to be halfhearted, but this only produces half the growth, half the blessings, and just half a life, really, with more bud than blossom." Neal A. Maxwell
Manage your emotions. Some days are better than others. Stay level. Things usually aren’t as good as they seem, and generally aren’t as bad as they seem, thank goodness.
Manage your time. It’s all you have, and it doesn’t come back. Set goals. Prioritize. Ninety percent of your success is persistence.
Manage your family relations. Ultimately, nothing else matters. Jobs come and go. Careers change. Whatever your situation, you are likely someone’s child or parent or grandparent. Those relationships are important.
Manage your lifestyle. A lot of otherwise successful people seem to blow it: drugs, alcohol, video games. Consider the spiritual, physical, mental aspects of life. Make good decisions. Avoid repeated errors in judgment.
Manage your money. Many authors advocate donating 10 percent of your income to charity. Pay yourself next, 10 percent that is untouchable, then 10 percent for investments. Learn to live on the rest. Avoid debt, especially consumer debt. Learn to know and trust the difference between needs and wants.
These are notes I took at some point when I was in the cookware business, a session called Five Points To Becoming A Star. My boss used the five points but never mentioned the source of the information. If you know, please let me know.

I can't help but admit I'm discouraged. I check in on this blog from time to time to answer comments that come every week or two. Sometimes I read several of the posts for old times sake, sometimes I don't. Writing for Know More Media was a great experience for me, and I'm pleased with what we did. But I'm discouraged because I just saw an add on my site (I still call it my site) for Hanna Montana ring tones. Now I know how the Beatles feel when they hear their songs used for advertising. Or something like that.
