From Fit In Stand Out by Blythe McGarvie:
[I]ntegrity must be extended beyond the basic and immutable requirement of legal compliance to the concept of ethos – that is, the system of values defining both a leader’s personal character and the character of her company. Integrity’s definition has evolved over the years, but today, its primary meaning as a "steadfast adherence to strict moral or ethical code" is widely acknowledged.
This means that first, a leader’s ethos and the organizational ethos must be thoughtful, evident, and aligned. Second, the leader’s actions must be consistent with this personal ethos and the organizational ethos. In other words, leaders with integrity seek to determine that their values and their organizations’ values are ethical; then they act in accordance with those values.
