A valiant Syrian nobleman, Naaman, went to Elisha to be healed of leprosy. Elisha sent a messenger–a servant–to tell Naaman to go wash himself seven times and he would be healed.
That's not what Naaman expected. He got mad, wanting Elisha to perform a great miracle. "If he had said some mighty thing, I would have done it," Naaman thought. Elisha hadn't even bothered to tell him in person, but had sent a servant. A mere servant.
Eventually, Naaman reconsidered, and went to wash seven times in the river Jordan. His flesh became clean. He returned to give thanks to Elisha and his God.
Sometimes in our complex lives we expect the solutions to our problems to also be complicated, but they often are not. We just have to find simple solutions. One such simple solution is to always have gratitude in our hearts, even for the complexities all around us.
