I’m looking out the window of a local high school, watching students arrive for class. From where I stand, the kids and their cars look about the same as they did in 1976, the first time I came to this school. The cars weren't as fancy then, but the clothes were better 30 years ago.
I dated a girl from this school, and we came to a few activities here. We later married and divorced after 25 years. The time passed quickly. There were many long days, bood and bad, but the years zoomed by.
The line from Bob Seger is in my mind, "wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then," but I'm not sure that I agree. There was a lot of good with the bad in all those years. Those experiences – despite nearly killing me – and that knowledge, have made me what and who I am right now. And right now, I feel ready, prepared, eager for what is coming, for the personal and professional opportunities that are before me, for the prospect of normalcy, for prosperity, for peace. It's about time.
