You want to be well-rounded, successful in your career, happy at home and healthy, right? For exercise, head back to your neighborhood roller rink. But, you haven't skated in 20 years, you say? No problem. The route is still the same. Turn left at every corner.
Roller skating hasn't changed since 1985, the last time I went, and not too much since 1971, the last time before that. Kids dress differently but act about the same. I think the same skates are available for rent.
One difference is that the music is awful. I don't mean to criticize a whole genre, but why they spell rap without the C is beyond me. It hardly seems like skating without Snoopy vs. The Red Baron or Nashville Cats, the songs I learned to skate to.
Another difference is that my knees hurt. I don't remember hurting while skating, my knees sagging, getting blisters. I don't remember hurting after anything when I was a kid, but now I ache and will be really sore tomorrow. I wonder if that's a bad sign.
